Camp Charcuterie

Off The Grid Crew taking in a sunset - camp charcuterie setup

"Off The Grid Charcuterie: Elevate Your Camping Trips with Savory Delights!"

A classic holiday favorite. These days every social gathering is put together with an impressive charcuterie board. Typically, boards consist of meats and cheeses, surrounded by complimentary snacks such as grapes, crackers, dried fruits, nuts, or even chocolates. They’re a crowd favorite for entertaining and you can get creative with what you’re creating, based on what you’re celebrating. Charcuterie is always great for groups because there’s something for everyone, but don’t think you have to leave it behind for your camping trips. Today we’re looking at how to make charcuterie camper friendly to take it Off The Grid!

Plan Ahead!

As always, thinking ahead makes things easy so you can relax and enjoy your camping trip. Make a list of all the charcuterie snacks that you want to include, close to your departure to ensure none of your food spoils. If any extra preparation is needed, do so prior to leaving and pack them in tupperware to stow in your camp fridge.

Charcuterie Must Haves!

A favorite for easy charcuterie supplies is Trader Joes, but if you don’t have one near you, here’s some ingredients to look out for! Everyone loves prosciutto, pair it with a soft cheese and enjoy on your cracker of choice. Grapes are a great compliment to cheese, pack up some sliced purple grapes to pair with your selections. Small chocolates and nuts add to the selection and guarantee everyone will find something they love on your board.

Wine Pairings!

Charcuterie and wine go together great. For more mellow options, we recommend pairing savory meats with your preference of lighter-bodied white wines like Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio. Or red wines such as Pinot Noir and Merlot that are lighter to medium bodied. For bolder charcuterie with more intense meats and cheeses such as chorizo picante and peppered meats, we recommend light whites such as Chenin Blanc or Verdejo or fruity reds.

Camp Charcuterie Served Just Right!

When it comes to putting your camp charcuterie board together on the trails, we recommend using any cutting board. No need to pack extra dishes, a cutting board lays out your ingredients perfectly for a charcuterie picnic.

Charcuterie Desert!

As we mentioned, some boards get really creative and tailor to certain events. Don’t stop at just the classics, put some of your favorite dessert snacks together and create something your camp crew will love. Throw together your preferred cookies, candies, pastries, chocolates, and other treats to create a dessert board. Our favorite is s’mores charcuterie! Pack graham crackers, marshmallows, and for chocolate- Hersheys, Reeses, Kitkats, etc. When it’s time to start the campfire, set up your s’more board and enjoy. Your group is guaranteed to love it, especially the kids!

Whatever your selections are, we know you’ll love camp charcuterie! We hope you enjoy your next camping excursion with your charcuterie picnic.

Have a great trip, and please adhere to the principles of Leave No Trace
